South Africa
ABN AMRO South Africa has been operating as a branch since 1995 from its headquarters in Sandton, in the north of Johannesburg. We maintain a balance sheet of EUR 2 - 3 billion, ranking us the largest foreign branch by assets. As we are a branch of ABN AMRO Bank NV, we benefit from its strong credit rating.
ABN AMRO remains totally committed to developing its local presence, thereby ensuring our chosen clients benefit from a domestic banking capability backed up by the global capabilities of our parent.
We focus on the Corporate and Institutional Banking market to which we provide specialised financial solutions. Our chosen target market of clients includes:
Top South African companies, particularly those with international activities or banking needs;
- Multinational companies with a presence in South Africa;
- JSE listed corporates;
- Financial institutions;
- State owned enterprises; and
- Selected mid market clients.
Our strength in South Africa is our ability to combine a local presence with the Bank's international network, sector and product expertise, including
- Fixed income (DCM, leverage finance, project finance, securitisation, private placements)
- Lending (bi-laterals, syndicated)
- Treasury products (trading, money market, credit, currency, rates and commodities)
- Trade finance
- Cash management, including online banking, and
- Correspondent banking
We became a primary dealer and member of the Bond Exchange of South Africa in 2007, broadening our domestic capability to deliver fixed income products locally and offshore and engage in trading activities.
